The USAID Agricultural and Rural Development (AGRO) Program will support Ukrainian enterprises offering services in drying, storing, and processing grains and industrial crops.
The program plans to co-finance 10-15 projects with budgets ranging from 18 to 36 million UAH each, as reported by the Ukrainian Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.
"The projects aim to increase the volume and storage duration of grains and industrial crops, enabling agro-producers to receive the necessary services timely and in the required volume. Furthermore, drying and processing capacities will maintain the quality of the produce. Overall, this will contribute to the sustainability of businesses and enhance food security in Ukraine," the statement reads.
USAID AGRO Program encourages applications from Ukrainian companies and
enterprises providing services in processing and storing agricultural produce, having elevator capacities, and have developed or started developing project documentation.
Expected outcomes of each project:
- At least 70 micro, small, and medium-sized agro-producers (MSMEs) will receive services in processing, drying, and/or storing grains;
- An increase of at least 20,000 tons per year in storage services to MSMEs and/or at least 50,000 tons per year in grain drying services;
- At least 50% of the total services in processing, drying, and/or storing grains will be received by agro-producers who cultivate (lease) lands less than 500 hectares in size.
Additional benefits include:
- Expansion of elevator capacities of processing enterprises;
- Project orientation towards the implementation of energy-efficient technologies;
- If applicants meet the criteria for small and medium-sized enterprises (criteria - from 10 to 300 employees, from $100 thousand to $15 million annual turnover, and annual total assets).
